A Liebster Award

A huge massive heartfelt explosive minefield

cooltext903070613going out to Uzoma, over at 85 Degrees, and also to Hillbilly Zen Dot Com.

They were both thoughtful and kind enough to send The Minefield a

Liebster Award!

I want to encourage everyone to click on over to 85 Degrees.  I’ve followed Uzoma’s blog for a while. It is an impressive collection of poems and stories that are presented in peaceful tone. Yet, they always manage to always be thought provoking.  I never cease to learn something new, from Uzoma’s proverbial words.

Hillbilly Zen is creative and delightful, just like the blog’s name.  They just finished wrtining an amazing series of haikus, based on what appeared to be, just a simple picture of two trees.  Absolutely loved the idea.  I enjoy this read because of the creativity and fun spirit, found in the posts.

Part of the Liebster is answering 11 questions, asked you by each giver.

Here we go . . .

Do you believe in incarnation and why?

I believe our soul/spirit lives on, after our body dies.  I don’t think that energy or love can be destroyed.  I’m not sure what form it takes, but if I have to be human flesh again – I would like to put in a request to have long legs and green eyes!

Do you enjoy your time blogging?

I do enjoy any time I get to spend writing.  I prefer to do it without a cat in my lap or a husband bugging me to play World of Warcraft :)  But I’ll take whatever time I can get.
If you had the chance to rule the world, what will you love to uphold or/and put an end to?

Uphold peace and environmental responsibility.  End war, which hopefully would lead to less famine and improved health conditions, for everyone.
What’s your lucky number?

One thing/gadget you can’t do without?

TV remote control
What type of music do you play for relaxation?

Pearl Jam – relaxing, happy, sad, angry, gleeful – Eddie Vedder is always there for me!!!
One thing you’ll love to have/do when you are old?

Organic Alpaca Wool Farm located in the Pacific North West
Do you prefer watching a movie at home or going to the cinema?

Home – I can pause the movie to pee
Favorite beverage—tea or coffee?

One virtue you’ve learnt from your parents?

My mother epitomized patience and kindness.  From my father, I learned to be hard nosed and stubborn.
A spooky place you’ve been to as a child?

The mausoleum where my grandparents are buried.  It’s cold and smells of sickly sweet dying flowers.  The tiniest sound echos forever.

When did you discover your talent?

I really started to love writing around 10 or 11 years old.

Who gave you the most encouragement to develop your talent?

High school Literature teacher, she introduced me to Shakespeare and the wonders of the English Cannon.

Have you thanked the person from question #2?

Yes! She’s gone now, but she knew she made a difference.

Do you work better on sunny days or rainy ones?

I do everything and anything better on rainy grey cold days!

What’s your favorite beverage to drink while working?

The “good” me says water – the “bad” me says chocolate milk!

Favorite comic strip?

Do you prefer to be on dry land or on/in the water?

By the water, or in just up to my knees.  Sharks are swimming ridiculously close to the shore, these days.

Do you speak more than one language?  (Yes, Klingon counts!)

Yes, I speak Spanish, probably just enough to set off a diplomatic boarder dispute.  And, I only speak in present tense!

If you could re-live one day in your life, which one would you choose?

The day I slip my behind into a size 6 jeans – still waiting and waiting and waiting . . .

What’s your favorite quote?

It’s not very beautiful.  But, it has meaning to me.  It’s where I run every time someone grabs my ankle and starts pulling me under.  It’s from a Pearl Jam song called Rearview Mirror.  The line is,   “I gather speed from you f***ing with me.”  Kind of crass, but it’s kept the old razor blade off the wrists for many a year!

If you were offered the ability to fly, but only by becoming a buzzard, would you do it?

Definitely!  I’d stick my head inside a dead armadillo, too!

Ok – 11 blogs, to whom I will pass the Liebster Award.

And, here are my 11 questions, should you choose to answer them:

  1. Which do you prefer – Football (NFL) or Football (rest of the world)?
  2. Which tastes better – Vanilla or Chocolate?
  3. Soda of choice – Coke or Pepsi?
  4. What is your favorite book and who is your favorite author?
  5. You need a break, do you head to the ocean or the mountains?
  6. How many countries have you visited?
  7. Do you have pets?  If so, what?
  8. Which do you read – paper books or electronic books?
  9. What is your favorite season, of the year?
  10. Do you play a musical instrument?  If so, which one or ones?
  11. How’s it all going to end – Nuclear Explosion or Meteor Crashing from Space??
