Don’t know how many of you watched the Formula 1 Shell Belgian Grand Prix, on Sunday. If you did and stayed tuned in, watching through the trophy presentations, you may have noticed something a tad strange.
No, it’s not the presence of Fernando Alonso (Ferrari – red fire suit), or Sebastian Vettel (Red Bull – blue fire suit) or even Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes – white fires suit) that seems to be out of place. They are all great drivers and are frequent participants in the podium ceremonies.
What I am referring to is the remote control sign, that quietly appeared as Grand Prix winner Sebastian Vettel, took to the podium. And then, as the German National Anthem continues to play, a second sign deploys!
The first sign goes up at about the 10 second mark. At the 30 second mark, an official steps forward to remove it. Around the 45 second mark, the other sign starts to rise.
Evidently, this video has angered Shell Oil, to the point of having it banned from YouTube!!! If, for some reason you cannot view it on my page please go here to see the show! The truth is out there . . .
Other banners were deployed throughout the venue, in an attempt to call attention to Shell Oil and their drilling in the Arctic.
Even though my favorite driver, Kimi Raikkonen (Lotus) had a lousy race, Greenpeace’s protests more than made up for his bad day!
