A cubic mile of seawater contains 120 Million Tons of Salt!
Some scientists believe that if all the salt in the ocean, were piled on the surface of the Earth
it would reach the height of a 40 story building.
It’s important to monitor how much of this
is in this
and that it weighs as much as 600,000 blue whales!
The reason? Ocean salinity, along with ocean water temperature
are key regulators, in controlling global warming.
Salty, colder water sinks to the bottom of the ocean.
Taking down with it, dissolved molecules of CO2, carbon dioxide.
The ocean can trap this CO2 for thousands, if not tens of thousands of years.
Without the ocean and its delicate system of water temperature, salinity and currents, carbon dioxide levels in our atmosphere would be tremendously higher that they already are.
This is just another reason, in the ever growing list, why we must encourage countries, governments, businesses and individuals to treat our world’s oceans, with respect.

Your welcome. It seems like the more we learn the scarier it gets.
