Happy Valentine’s Day

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Remember, no matter how hard corporate America tries to convince you, today is not about . . .

Who gets the biggest bouquet of overpriced roses delivered to their work place.  Unfortunately, this can quickly evolve into a sick sort of comparative competition between floral recipients, because we all know that “Quantity = Sense of Self Importance.”

x

It’s not about devouring the calorie ridden and sugar laced box of chocolates, that certainly will not help our cause, as we strive to imitate the essence of a Victoria’s Secret model.  Which usually includes, but is not limited to, donning tiny heart shaped lingerie, while casually draping ourselves across a bear skin rug.  It is pretty much a universally accepted fact that “Chocolate = Chub!”

Neither is this day about gifting the biggest and shiniest piece of jewelry that our credit will allow.  The value of which could feed a small country’s population, for a solid week.  Or, drag us into personal financial ruin, for years to come.  Reproving the old adage that “Pride = Downfall!”

And I’m going to do my best to avoid the “details” associated with this little guy.  It suffices to say that the advertisement practically guarantees the male purchaser of achieving a successful sexual conquest, over any female.  Upon opening this gift, and showing it off to her friends, the recipient (dripping with innuendo) coos that, “She just can’t wait to give him HER gift!”  This leads us to the conclusion, of which we now have irrefutable proof,  that “Over Priced Children’s Toys Marketed Towards Adults = Getting Laid!”

Instead, today needs to be about treating one another with the same respect, care, loyalty and honesty that we do over the remaining 364 days of the year.  This Action = Consistency.  Consistency = Trust.

And where you find Trust, you will usually find Love.

“If you live to be 100, I hope I live to be 100 minus 1 day, so I never have to live without you.”

Winnie the Pooh

  1. I love this. I don’t know how there can be trust without love and vise versa. And, I can’t think of cultivating a greater quest than being and continuing to be trustworthy which is what fills my heart with the joy I feel you’re writing about. Thank you so much for this and letting a stranger enter your door to share this lovely post. Happy Heart Day to you friend, every day.

  2. How lovely to come here almost a year after you wrote this. This valentines day is approaching and I intend to spread love around it little. I will be having a rose and glass of wine with my OH as well :)

Please leave a warm breath and a scream, or a comment, whatever pleases you!
